An Eco wet chemical fire extinguishers are designed to combat fires involving combustible cooking oils and fats, often found in kitchens or restaurants.

An eco wet chemical fire extinguishers contain a specially formulated extinguishing agent. This extinguishant, when dispersed, will react with oil to form a soapy substance. This process is called saponification. Saponification of the extinguishing agent will produce a cooling blanket which seals the surface of the fuel to prevent reignition and spreading.
